What is a GEOCACHE?
Geocaching is a high-tech version of treasure hunting. Geocachers seek out hidden treasures using GPS coordinates posted on the Internet by those hiding the cache. Using a GPS (Global Positioning System) unit, they then trek out into the backwoods or along trails to find the hiding spot of the cache. Once found, a cache may provide the visitor with a wide variety of rewards. If the visitor takes something out of the cache, they can be asked to leave something in return. Or you may sign a guest book showing that you have found it. For some, the biggest reward is the thrill of the search and the discovery of a place that they have never been. Geocaching is done in many countries and appeals to a broad spectrum of people.
The Marine Riders ATV Club Geocache was the first amongst the ATVANS clubs. Click on the link to the left to obtain the coordinates for our first Geocache and start your adventure.
It is our hope that there will soon be many other Geocaches across the province. If there are any other clubs placing geocaches please let us know and we will link it to our site.
